Discovering the Bible
Discovering the Bible is an engaging year-long journey through the Bible, including insightful notes and historical background for each day’s reading. Highlighted is God’s amazing plan of redemption as it unfolds through the entire Bible. Written especially for laypersons, Discovering the Bible is not only intended for individual study, but is also highly effective for use in groups of all kinds, with a leader facilitating discussion on the passages and readings from the previous week.

Gordon L. Addington was a life-long student and teacher of the Bible. He served on staff with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship and as a medical missionary in Hong Kong through the Evangelical Free Church, where he co-founded Evangel Hospital. He earned his MD degree from the University of Minnesota, where he subsequently returned as a clinical instructor of surgery. In addition to his medical training, he earned both MDiv and DMin degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Gordon was a passionate believer in the power of Scripture to transform lives. He and his wife Bonnie led Bible studies throughout their 61 years of marriage and had a significant part in planting two churches – both of which came about as natural extensions of Bible studies in their home.
Discovering the Bible has been published in seven languages: English, Russian, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), Vietnamese, Ukrainian and Polish.
The first Spanish print edition of Discovering the Bible is scheduled for publication in December 2023. It will additionally be published in all electronic formats and widely disseminated throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
